![]() Tower Defense does show the war that the rest of the series takes place after and later alludes to, so if you end up deeply enjoying the backstory and lore of these robot worlds you could read up the game's Wikia, read a guide, or look for playthrough videos. Its very hard and the game isn't high enough quality or fun enough to weather that level of difficulty. I would also skip SteamWorld Tower Defense. It's a non-canon game told while robots are reading a fairy tale book, so you are not missing any relevant story by skipping this game. While it isn't awful, imo, it's less enjoyable than most RPGs and most card games and there's nothing uniquely SteamWorld about it. So if you're interested in experiencing the (pretty standard, but mysterious, unique, and fun) story, I would play Heist after both Dig games. And while it's a different genre of a game, the story and worldview in Heist canonically takes place after both Dig games. It's also super cool to see the little connections and mysteries that bridge SteamWorld Dig 1 and 2 together.Īfter Dig 2, SteamWorld Heist takes place shortly later. While Dig 2 improves on most aspects of Dig 1, I think it's still worth playing Dig 1 first because it's still a very solid, quick little game. Dig 1 also uses procedural generation to create its map, so exploring it feels a bit more "natural" than the hand-designed levels in Dig 2. It's called Xenotheria and it's on Kickstarter. Hey all, we're big fans of games like SteamWorld Quest (which was on Stadia) and Witcher Thronebreaker, and are working on our own turn-based deckbuilding RPG. It's short and simple, but does what it wants to do very well and enjoyably. Xenotheria Turn Based Deckbuilding RPG (like Steamworld Quest) 100 funded on Kickstarter with 2 days left Discussion. Play SteamWorld Dig, SteamWorld Dig 2, and SteamWorld Heist. ![]() The old /r/patientgamers Essential Games List Please use flair to display what games you’re currently playing, not a punch line, username, tag, URL, or signature.
